2 Newbie questions

I just installed DFH on my local host and really got surprised of it's ease of installation and feature-richness. It looks very promising.
So here are my first questions:
1. How secure is DFH? What security measures have been implemented? What is the developer(s) background (If I may ask)?
I think this is important concern before any attempt serious deployment.
2. How can I add a new language? I renamed enlgish.php to newlangue.php and added the new file to the lang folder but it is not appeared in the settings. What else should I do.
